How it works

Zero contact.
Maximum precision.

In Trans-PRK SmartSurfACE, the laser reshapes the cornea in a single continuous pass: it first removes the epithelium then performs the refractive ablation without ever stopping — no instrument ever touches the eye.

01
No scalpel, no flap
In LASIK, the surgeon creates a corneal flap with a microkeratome or femtosecond laser. In Trans-PRK, this step does not exist: the flap is never created, eliminating the risk of flap complications.
02
SmartSurfACE: a single pass
The SmartSurfACE software (Schwind) calculates and integrates the epithelial removal and refractive correction into a single continuous ablation. Less time under the laser, less tissue treated, faster recovery.
03
Eye Tracker 7D at 1,000 Hz
The AMARIS 1050RS system monitors eye movements on 7 axes at a frequency of 1,000 times per second. Every laser spot is compensated in real time — the treatment never stops for a micro-movement.
04
Topical anaesthesia — no injection
The procedure is performed with anaesthetic drops only. No injections, sedation or general anaesthesia are needed. The patient is awake and cooperative throughout the entire procedure.

Trans-PRK — long-term vision
All techniques have the same visual recovery
at two weeks.
LASIK recovers faster in the first 7 days. But at two weeks post-procedure, visual recovery is equivalent for all techniques. The difference that matters is another: Trans-PRK uses a wider optical treatment zone, which translates to fewer night halos, lower regression risk and superior visual quality and stability in the long term.

Personalisation

Three profiles,
one single laser.

Dr Mossa selects the most suitable ablation profile for your ocular profile based on the MS-39 diagnostic examination. Not all patients need the most advanced profile — the best one is the one indicated for you.

Aberration

Standard correction
Precise correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism with an optimised profile to preserve the natural aberrations of the cornea. Suitable for the vast majority of patients with regular corneas.

Personalised on the cornea
The surgical plan is built on the MS-39 topographic map of the patient's cornea. It also corrects higher-order aberrations present on the corneal surface. Ideal for irregular corneas or patients who have already undergone laser treatments.

Candidacy

Is it right
for you?

Candidacy for Trans-PRK is assessed during the free diagnostic examination with MS-39, topography and biometry. The definitive answer is only possible after the examination.

Age ≥ 18 years with stable refraction The prescription must have been stable for at least 12 months. Under 21 years, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Cornea of sufficient thickness Trans-PRK requires less residual tissue than LASIK and is often feasible even on corneas of medium-to-low thickness.
No active corneal pathologies Keratoconus, corneal opacities or active infections are contraindications. Early-stage or suspected keratoconus requires in-depth evaluation.
No pregnancy or breastfeeding Temporary conditions that alter refraction — the procedure is postponed until the end of the period.
The diagnostic examination is the only certain answer
No online questionnaire can replace the examination with MS-39, topography and pachymetry. The diagnostic examination at EasyLaser is completely free and without obligation.

Patient journey

From the first examination
to visual freedom.

Every stage is planned and monitored by Dr Mossa. No surprises, no phase left to chance. Post-operative check-ups are included for 12 months.

01
Free diagnostic examination

The first examination includes MS-39 corneal topography, pachymetry, Peramis aberrometry and a complete eye examination. No commitment — you decide afterwards.

At the end of the examination, you already know your corneal profile, the exact defect to correct and the expected result with AI simulation. Examination completely free.
02
Procedure — Day Surgery

The Trans-PRK procedure takes approximately 20 seconds per eye. Only anaesthetic drops — no injection, no hospital stay. The AMARIS 1050RS laser performs the treatment in a single continuous pass without ever touching the eye.

Technology
AMARIS 1050RS SmartSurfACE Eye Tracker 7D Topical anaesthesia
After the procedure, you leave with the therapeutic lens applied. You can go home independently (with a companion). Vision is already partially corrected — recovery begins immediately.
03
Lens removal — day 4–5

On day 4–5, the therapeutic lens is removed and epithelial healing is verified. At two weeks post-procedure, visual recovery is equivalent to LASIK — from that point, the wider optical zone of Trans-PRK begins to make the difference in the long term.

Included in the price
Lens removal day 4–5 Epithelial check
Epithelial healing is rapid. In most cases, by day 5–7 the cornea is already re-epithelialised and vision is functional for daily activities.
04
Follow-up at 1, 3 and 12 months

Check-ups at 1, 3 and 12 months verify refractive stabilisation and visual quality with control topography. Everything included in the procedure price.

Guarantee included
MS-39 check-up 12-month examination 5-year guarantee*
EasyLaser guarantees the result for 5 years. In case of significant residual regression, a re-treatment is provided at no additional cost, subject to candidacy assessment.

The procedure is painless thanks to anaesthetic drops. In the first 24–48 hours, foreign body sensation, tearing and photosensitivity may appear — normal symptoms of epithelial healing, manageable with prescribed eye drops.
Functional vision for most activities is generally reached between day 5 and day 10. At two weeks post-procedure, recovery is equivalent to LASIK. Definitive stabilisation occurs in 4–6 weeks, with the result confirmed at the 3-month check-up. In rare cases, recovery may take longer. See the detailed visual recovery.
In the first 7 days yes — LASIK recovers faster because the epithelium is not removed. But at two weeks post-procedure, visual recovery is equivalent for all techniques. From that point on, Trans-PRK has the advantage: it uses a wider optical treatment zone, which translates to fewer night halos, lower regression risk and superior long-term visual quality. Those who choose Trans-PRK accept 8–10 additional days of recovery in exchange for a clinically better result at 10 years.
Trans-PRK eliminates the specific risks of LASIK related to flap creation (displacement, epithelium under the flap, microkeratome complications). It is the safest technique from the standpoint of long-term corneal stability, as it does not disrupt the lamellar architecture of the cornea. See the technique comparison.
Often yes. Trans-PRK requires less post-ablative residual tissue (RSB) than LASIK, as no flap needs to be created — it is often feasible even on medium-to-low thickness corneas excluded from LASIK. The definitive assessment is made only by pachymetry at the free diagnostic examination.
Rest from work for 3–5 days is recommended, especially for screen work. Sports with risk of eye trauma should be avoided for 4 weeks. The therapeutic lens is removed on day 4–5; from that point, driving is possible when vision has sufficiently recovered.
The correction is permanent: the removed corneal tissue does not regenerate. A small residual regression is possible in some patients — that is why EasyLaser includes the 5-year guarantee with the possibility of re-treatment at no additional cost, subject to candidacy assessment.
Simply present your Assura card at reception at the time of the diagnostic examination or procedure. The 10% discount is applied automatically to the quote — no form, no retroactive reimbursement, no prior authorisation. See the partnerships page for all details.
